Wells, Walls & Worship....Day 3

I wish I could post pictures of the kids today and tell you all about our time spent with them, but alas this trip is different than others in that we are scheduled to spend a good amount of time on the property that will become a permanent home.  It was nothing short of painful to arrive and leave Chayah this morning in a quick 15 minute span of time, but tomorrow we'll get our tanks filled with children and playing and planning and I promise pictures of CHAYAH CHILDREN.

Today was nothing close to boring though as we met a friend, Solomon, at the property and walked together with Janet talking about where a well might go, the best location for a house, what kind of trees provide plenty of shade, where gardens might go and what kind of critters life might be best suited for the food supply.  Becoming more and more self sufficient, learning the skills of the culture and having something to bless others with, is all on our radar and seems to be in God's leading and providing.

We got a pretty great lesson on the well process and expenses to anticipate.  Solomon walked us through the steps to be taken and a few different options.  Just in the past 6 months he has done the exact same thing on this property...and we thank God for his going before us this way.

Whether brick or block is best for the security wall and in what order to schedule the next few steps.  As the sun threatened to cook us all we found some shade under our own umbrella tree and prayed thanking God for who he is and all he has done in the two short years since we said "yes" to this journey.   We are so very grateful and sometimes confused that God has allowed us each this particular kind of cross cultural joy.  The adventure and thrill of watching Him work in Uganda keeps us on our toes and on our knees all at the same time.

We came back to the hotel for a lunch and more discussion and planning.  Solomon shared his amazing testimony of being raised here in Uganda as an orphan himself and his heart for children as a result.

Janet and I found space enough to sort through 700 lbs/14 suitcases of donations separating some for Chayah Children and some of the excess will be taken with us tomorrow when we visit Kakira and some of the children that Chayah helps minister to who live with a family member.

We all found a little time late this afternoon for some rest...we ran an errand in town and met back for dinner wrapping up our day with plans for tomorrow.  Thank our God it will involve some play time with our favorite Ugandan family.   Its 9pm here and everyone is tucked into their rooms for the night.  Feet a bit more tired today...but hearts full and at peace.

"Yahweh...Holy is your name" plays in the background as I wrap this up.  The day is just beginning in the U.S., I pray it involves some great glimpse of the one who has given us life!
